Well winter is fast approaching for us in the northern part of the U.S. and that means some of us will have more time to spend in our shops. I for one had a couple of projects in mind and settled on one that I had been thinking about for some time.
I have a very old set of drawings for the Morton M-5 radial engine. I had gone to an old farm show many years ago and an older gentleman who had been looking at my display asked if I might be interested in them. "Of course I said." Like many of us I put them into my 'box' of drawings with the idea of maybe getting to them some day. Well some day has arrived.
Having read about other radial engines out there I wanted to incorporate some of their better features into the Morton, like an oiling system, screw on heads, roller lifters and such. I am keeping the same basic dimensions, bore .625, stroke .600 but making my own set of drawings to use the new features. I have 5 sheets completed as of this writing and will probably need about 5 more detail the remaining features. I should have them done by the end of the month and will start making chips around the 1st of November.
I will keep everyone informed of my progress.

Sounds like a great project gbritnell. I know Bruce Satra has made several improvments on the Morten, you could check out his modifications as well. I think he also offers castings, you probably know all this. Best of luck, looking forward for the in progress pictures
