The vertical single cyl. overhead
valve engine was built from a design by H. Upshur. the engine was
done in bright brass , to present a nice looking engine. the plans were
complete and clear, and if followed will provide the builder with a fine
running engine. the one modification that I made was to add a cooling
fan. because I like to run the engines somewhat hard , and thought that
the extra cooling would be a plus. the engine when it was finished ,
started on the first pull of the starting rope. I started the engine on
glow fuel and glow plug, then tuned it up and then changed over to spark
ignition. the engine is now aprox. three years old , and still
running fine. .....
