I became interested in model IC engines in 1998, bought a lathe/mill and a subscription to Strictly IC. This engine was based on the Upshur Single Vertical in the June 1998 SIC. This was my first machine shop experience since a 12 week class in high school. I learned from machinists at work and made parts time after time until they were correct and I had learned the required skill. I had many misconceptions about what works and what does not. The engine is not much to look at, it runs good, I learned a lot, and got hooked on engine building. It is made of bar stock.
