The Tiny Two-Cycle , 1.00 bore X 1.00 stroke, 13,000 RPM 6/3/2008
This is a 1946 plans from one of the monthly magazines..........It looks as if it will be fun to build

Some tools used to
locate tapped holes , needed for the bearing retainers......Work is
going slow
Bearing shown in
place....Plans want you to have a push fit on the bearings
Just a bunch of pix.
of the block.....It is almost finished, but you have to locate some
holes from the next parts........
This picture shows
one of three mounting bolt pattern on the engine......

Picture
of working on the tiny two cycle engine flywheel............
Picture
showing some more work on the engine block.......The block now has the
bearings and bearing retainers........
The
long shaft is a temp. shaft to check the bearing to shaft fit..........
Back
end of the engine.....
A
look inside of the block , showing the front bearing retainer.......
A
look at my work area....I will clean it up some day..........
The
brass tube (air intake) will be pushed down into the block, and the
threaded holes will be in line with the holes in the tube....This will
be the needle valve for the engine.....While not making any changes to
the original engine design, I an going to fit a standard carb. to the
engine to allow you to control the speed of the engine.....The original
engine speed control is by changing the timing of the engine........
Rough
cut off flywheel......
Flywheel
rope slot.......
Flywheel
dust........
Flywheel
and block......I am going to make one stock flywheel, and one of my fan
type flywheel to provide some cooling air while running the
engine.......
The
small hub on the back of the flywheel , and the matching recess in the
front of the block provides a running seal for the front of the
engine......I made the small hub out of 12l14 steel to give me a "good"
material for the set screws that will hold the flywheel to the engine
shaft.....
I am now working on the crank , and should have it finished soon.........I will send some more pictures later as the engine progresses.....Thanks...Dale

I still need to make the rings, and do some final work on the engine yet.....I believe that I am going start up the engine on glow fuel and plug.....After some run time, I will change it over to ignition
Milling
the slot for the starter rope......
Forming
the fuel bypass using a 5/8" tool blank for the correct width........
Bypass
tube "temp" set into place on the engine......
Starting
the cylinder work......The original plans for the engine had the
cylinder and head as one peice....I am planning to lap the cylinder and
did not want to lap up to a dead end.....I made the head a screw off
head
I
made a screw off head, and this is a picture of the (yet to be threaded
32 TPI) head, that will screw onto the cylinder.......
Parting
off the screw on head........
Opened
up cylinder , ready to start the boring work ......
Ready
to start work on the cylinder........
Threading
the top of the cylinder to accept the screw on head..........
The
threaded pair......
The
threaded cylinder and head........
Head
with threaded adaptor from 3/8-24 to 1/4/- 32 tpi................
Starting
the outside work on the cylinder..........
Head
started onto the cylinder........
Assembled
cylinder and head.......
Starting
work on the crankshaft..........
Turning
the throw........
Turning
the crankshaft...........
Crankshaft
with the bearings........
Finish
work on the crank.........
Still
more work to go..............
Crank
and block...............
Porting
work on the cylinder..........
Working
on the rotary intake valve...........
Cylinder
temp. set on engine block......
Starting
work on the conn. rod...........
Connecting
rod........
Laping
the cylinder.........
Cylinder
at 1.000"..............
Starting
the piston work......
Checking
the cylinder size............
Piston
with a working plug still attached..........
Inside
piston work......
Making
a working plug mount for the piston........
Facing
off the piston to correct length.......
Piston
and rod combination.......
Finish
work on the piston top........
Final
work on the piston top.....I will send a few more pictures as I do the
final assembly work......I need to make the piston ring (1) , and do a
"bunch" of small finish work......I am planning to start up on glow fuel
and plug, then convert it over to spark........
Parting
the piston from the 1st. plug.......
10/5/2009
I used 12L14 for the engine cylinder and crank.....C40 cast for the rings, and 2024 aluminum for the block........I used their way to make the rings, and they look real good.......I am getting down to the fine parts, and things that need to be done to make it run......I will start it up on glow, and then change over to ignition......Still many things to do........
10/20/2009
I wanted to have the engine running at the Zanesville, Ohio
show.........Had a few things come up that had to done first....Oh well,
you all know about your best laid plans and all of that good
"stuff"......
I have added the fan to allow bench running of the engine......It will not be running at the show, but will be running at the NAMES show.........
If you want the plans for the "tiny" two-cycle, just get in touch with me, and I will pass the plans along............Thanks Dale
