Little Devil, 1 Cylinder, 4
cycle, Vertical Hit and Miss
Machining begins
5/27/2003,
At last. Got it all together ---- but the compression was too much.
Replacing the .015" Teflon head gasket with a .032" one and doubling
the plug washer reduced the compression a little bit. The
compression is still higher than desired for a hit-or-miss engine.
The Devil cranked right up and runs well. It packs a lot of power
for a little engine with it's 3/4" bore.
The photo shows the temporary carburetor, exhaust pipe, ignition
system and fuel tank ---- all from the junk box. I still have lot's
of prettying up to do but I can enjoy watching it run while
finishing the appurtenances.
to be continued...
